NBRS-5.0: The Holistic UTM
With over 300 new features including bandwidth control, application identification, SSL scanning and IPv6 translation, NBRS-5.0 is the first Holistic Security Management Platform.
Looking at UTM products available on the market today, they certainly bundle many security applications into one appliance, but they do little to unify those applications beyond putting them side-by-side on a web interface. Unified Threat Management (UTM) today is far from unified. What the industry needs is a new approach. A Holistic Approach.
NBRS-5.0 is designed, from the ground up, to provide a Holistic Security Management platform, and to extend that platform with security modules that fit together and work together in a holistic manner. It does this by introducing revolutionary new configuration and logging frameworks, as well as an "entity model" to the core logging and user interfaces. Entities are the users and machines that are part of your network, and NBRS-5.0 tracks these entities, their attributes (such as MAC addresses, IP addresses, eMail addresses, etc) and the network resources they utilise. Rather than presenting you with a set of disparate screens showing firewall blocks by IP address, URL access by authenticated user, and email by email address, NBRS-5.0 presents a single holistic view of the activity of each of the entities in your network (for example; calling up user "Joe" will show all his firewall blocks, web access, network usage, email, etc - across his desktop, iPhone, Blackberry tablet, and remote VPN access). The entity model itself is built and maintained by automated systems, that learn your user behavior and network.

Modular, but integrated in a way never before seen, to provide a single holistic view both of the network and of the entities using it. Transparent, Holistic, Scalable and Modular, this document provides details on just some of the features of NBRS-5.0.
NBRS-5.0 is designed to run on all modern Network Box hardware - the same hardware you are running today. Initial releases fully support the S-25, S-35, S-85, M-255, M-285, M-385, E-1000x, E-2000x and E-4000x models, and support for older hardware (in particular, S-50, S-80, M-250 and M-380) will follow.
In addition, exciting new hardware options will be announced in the coming months, including hardware acceleration for key NBRS-5.0 functions such as SSL and VPN encryption.
We expect to release the first modules of this product later this year, with UTM+ features becoming available during 2012.
